You really don't need to read all of this!

This is me rambling and thinking out loud, me showing how incapable I am at making decisions, me trying to be funny and failing and generating laughs just from my ramblingness...beware of sudden subject changes...I write as I think...

And One More Good Thought

May you always find candy just when you need it!!!!

A Friday Night

It's Friday night, and instead of partying I'm sitting in my room typing on my computer.

I feel that it would be fun (?) to see a "real" party at Smith!!

Maybe will go get laied tomorrow night...Hiwiian Theme (no, I have not changed that much in the time I've been here!!!!)

But...there are humans of the male gender, and appropriete age on campus this weekend....for a debat...and a memo went around asking if people could host debators...I'm not, but a house mate in my year is involved and several of us have asked her to bring back some good specimens to the house!!!!! I think there needs to be a one to one ratio at parties, each guest must be brought by someone, so we can't go to the party to meet them...we're trying to figure things out.....or anyway, we hope Amber comes through and delivers the goods!!!!!

Oh, I love my school!!!

Concert went well...small audience...one preformer was in Bemused...she sang with the Valley Light Opera...they are doing The Merry Widow......Dad, you're the only one who understands what I just wrote...though I don't know why I'm talking to you because I like to have you and Mom read what I write here so you are informed without me having to tell you things, thogh I like to call you guys a lot anyway....anyway....I like to pretend you aren't reading this so I'm not self conscience....It's preobably a good learning experince for you because I always feel like our TV deprived family doesn't know what young people today are like at all...you only get glimpses...then you'll tell me that "young folks" always think that...not that you use that term "Young Folks" I just felt like saying it...

anyway...

I used to write in my notebooks, sometimes stories, sometimes diary entries...it's fun here actually having someone talk back when i say things!!!! And sometimes the topics caught by the readers are ones I never really realized I'd brought up till I read what they write back...

Ah....ah....ah....choooooooooooo

I really did sneeze, but of course before I wrote that.
I could keep babbling for a very long timeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

But should I?

Would anyone really want to read it...perhaps....perhaps not...perhaps you're just laughing....or perhaps you're not, but I just wish you are because it is nice to make people laugh...well...in a nice way...if there is a wrong way...now I'm just trying really, really hard to keep going and not stop...

I should do my Latin Home Work...Latin is my favorite class..of course I already know what we're studying...but don't have it memorized...so am not getting perfect scores..wierd..I aways used to get perfect scores in Latin...OK, sorry, now I'm just showing off...

But I am thinking more and more about being a Classics major...and perhaps I'll take Medieval Welsh, or Old English, or Ancinet Greek...it would be sooooooooooooo cooooooooooooooool to study in Greece my Jnior year...but then I would have needed to start some form of Greece now, probably....sigh...I like writing that....so I'll say it again....sigh....It seems like a Myles-ish thing to so..to state something like that....I say it partly because I don't know the automatapiac version of a sigh....does anyone know?

That's a brilliant question, Leah, way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!

"An oak tree is just a nut that held its ground."

(From my agenda)

By now my devoted fans and readers have become completely convinced that I'm:

A. Crazy

B. Drunk

C. Tiered

D. All of the above...

E. All but B.

F. A.

G. A, C, D, and F.

did I spell tiered write?

I don't know if I was trying to be funny with that....

Am I a dork...

How would you classify me?

As bored...actually I'm not bored, thank you very much, I have now made my own entertainment: talking in circles and answering myself..both I am a master at!!!!!!

What was I saying...Am I turning into a female Troy....but we can't all be Troys......though sometimes it is good!!!!!

Ah, yes...scroll to the end of the post to get the answer, as best I can deduse it, to the question I asked twenty minutes ago!!!!

How are your toe nails?...I sound LIKE (Whay did I capitalize that? Because i felt Like it...WHich is AANN awsume reason for things..as long as no one dies or animals were not tested ETC. ...anyway, I sound Like Zanny...oh, how is MEL?

I really should:
a) get to bed
b)do some home work
c)go to a party
e)get drunk
f)scratch out number e
g)call someone so that I'll stop rambling/make them talk
h)post this ramble and get it over with
i)add a letter d because I just realized that it's missing (no joke, I'd tell you if it was.............
...that doesn't speak too highly for my humor: if I have to tell everyone what's a joke!!!!!!)
j)is for...Jam
k)I like colors!!!!!!
l)la: a long, long way to run....so a needle pulling thread...no, no, that's back wards...no..o....o...o....

Doe-a deer, a female deer
Ray- a drop of golden sun...
Me- a name I call myself
Fa- a long, long way to run...
So- a needle pulling thread
La- a note to follow so...
Tea- a drink with jam and bread
(And I had Tea Duty today...)
That will bring us back to Doe....o...o..o.

QUIZ ANSWER:

***************C*********************

OK, that's enough of that...making a fool out of myself...

Good Night...

Sleep Tight...

Don't let the bed-bugs bite...

Wake up bright...

In the morning light...

To do what's right...

With all your might.

Love, kisses, and sweet dreams...

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need I say more?

Thursday, September 29, 2005

Yeah Right

I take back waht I said in teh comments to my last post...it was not a relaxing day...

There were men running around in my house all day trying to fix the fire alarms so we don't toast in our beds...and they were testing the alarms....now I know there is no way I won't wake up if they go off....ouch!!!!!!!

Went to dedication/ribbon cutting for Kosher-Hallal dinning...fun, educational, and yummy...got to meet Hilliel leaders and hear people's names...alll of us were either named Leah, Rachel or Sarah....and that really isn't a joke!! I said "Hi, I'm Leah," to another first year...and she said "Hi, I'm Rachel." It's so cool to be able to talk to people about kosher food or cougle or Shabbat
and not have to explain anything!!!!And most og us did have brown curly hair!!!

The Muslim chaplan wore a really pretty pink outfit and turbin, and Babbi Bruce looked like a rabbi...I've learned that we have two rabbi's kind of....there's a special guy, not our rabbi, who oversees the kosher cooking.

I'm sooooo full.

I don't feel well.

I'm sick.

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

This was a comment at Myles' blog but I thought since it is so long, and says so much, that I should post it here!!!

Hi Myles...reading what you write makes my day happier...I did have a good day today, fell asleep while reading the Odessey this afternoon so did my HW and got a nap in...I do really like the Odessey...it's abit different from the many novels for teen girls I've read....and the novel Troy...it is unsuprisingly like
The Aeneid! I'm starting to see first hand what Miss Huntoon meant when she said Virgil was copying Homer...

Having fun rambling...must do home work...must do home work...I had to repeat it so you might get the way I'm saying that in my head:like a robot...

Learned about the Elusinian Mysteries (or Rites) in Rites of
Passage today...will explain, but you being Myles: he-who-knows-all-history,
I'm operating under the asumption that you know what I'm talking about....anyway...they make me think of the orgy scene in Brave New World...and I usually don't have a sick mind to connect things like that together..."We don't know what they did in the ultimate moment in the rite"...it just sounds like...I don't know...and these are ancient Greeks, who are similar to the ancient Romans....anyway

Enough of that ramble...

How was your weekend?

Who is this "Matt" you live with?

I guess I could just e-mail him and ask...the Matt I know...I haven't spoken to him in a month and a half...speaking of that...I've never talked to Mekan....and perhaps I should e-mail Ashley and Ian and others.

Anyway...sorry, this is long...maybe I should have e-mailed you.

I'm getting to the point where I won't let myself turn on my computer because I know then I'll write on the blogs and not get my work done...
i have ywt to say anything besides one sentence on my blog today....maybe I'll paste this in because it is long and I've bothered to write it aka: gotten distracted........

Things are not the way i thought they'd be:
1) I'm happy if I get a B- as a grade
2) I always seem to not get my reading done
3)Nothing bad has happened but I never seem to know no matter how many places I check exactly i have to do on a particular day for a particular class...We lost time w/ Mt. Day and I looked at my sylibus right bfore class to seei hadn't done the reading...I'd been going by what i remembered I had to do...then I didn't have the old book, bu tI did bring the new one to class because we were behind...but we really weren't followong the scedual because we were behind and my original thought was correct...whay so I always feel soooo disorganized, even though I spend so much time on organization....more than on acutal homw work or study? I used to be organized...or High School systems have to be redone..already i use notebooks, not binders...just because you are good at pulling papers out of your bag with out putting them in special folders that I thought yu could appreciate this rant that i didn't mean to make you listen to...stopping for breath now.

Went to JYA fair....colleges in England ect. also were there... I talked to the people from Israel, though I rally don't know why anyone would want to go there and get blown up...

Also today , things of interest...

Happened to be up at 7 am even though my alarm was set for 7:45...
I went to the bathroom...heard someone's alarm go off...my room mate came in to ask if i was in there..I said yeah and finished washing my hands... went back to my room to have Nkechi tell me to put my shoes on on her way around the house banging on doors....
So we all ended up standing in our drive way in the early morning cold...some of us, that is...some (at least the only two girls who live on the fourth floor slept through it)...because an alarm in the kitchen decided to go off for no reason...and public safety and a fire truck came (We do have a burn time of 2 minutes) we all feel incredibly safe now knowing that our alarm system does not work...most of the alarms never went off...they should have...it's not good to sleep through a fire...also we all exited so slowly most of us would have died...wow...I wasn't scared, but looking back on it, i should have been...or should be still...
i think they repaired the system....that can't be legal...

Happy-it smells slightly like fall!!
It's gotten cold -this mornign and evening...though it was sunny for a while!!!

You know you're from a small place when you talk about people at your college by naming people from home...

Laurel and I were discussing how many hippies, or people with dreds, or what ever, and so were (affectonatly) saying "I have a lot of Mikes at my school" (Me) or "There aren't a lot of Mikes at my school." (Laurel)

The girls down stairs are discussing whether there was a hot guy among the fire men and women this morning...I think there was a guy sighting at the campus center (I know I've seen four, but you can't go up to a random guy and say "Will you marry me?")...

Just spent last hour writting this, must do some work and not fall prey to college procrastination habit...

G'night, sleep tight, don't let the bed-bugs bite!

Love, Leah

It smells like Fall!!!!!

(Will elaborate later....right now must sprint to chorus.)

I've never done so much skimming in my life...

I had three weeks worth of a college history course to read yesterday and today...I think i might have gotten something out of it...this waiting to do it was not intentional...
1. I joined the class late ans had essays to do for the same class.
2. Forgot about some of reading after doing essays.
3. Had more pressing hand-in stuff to do...(this class is my field-classics so I could fake it easily.)
4. Didn't want to read it if other option was to hang out with my house mates and drink tea etc.
5. Realized Friday night that I really needed to do it...that I now had make up and new stuff to read...it's sortof read...

Anyway, third Katin quiz tomorrow and lots of classes...I'll talk to people later...

What do I want to be when I grow up?

Laurel: By the way now I'm really not in the mood to be a professional writer...started Friday night when some of the girls were discussing how hard it is to get anything published...so I'm without a career...perhaps:I could be Jess's editor, your secretary, or Katie's agent...or maybe Myles' or Ashley's co-teacher...you never know...or we'll all end up in Austrailia...I like the Austrailia comment!!! By the way, how do you spell Australia...there, I slowed down, thought, and got it right....or at least it now looks right! Perhaps Drunk Australia put Australis in my mind...not because I want to go there and drink, God no....Wow...I feel bad having put God in there, but it just sounded right...it was needed....but now I feel bad....

I know now that it is time to stop writing....

G'night, again....Leah

Valley Stream, Long Island (NY)

Hi...I'm actually not out of touch just because I'm not in my room...I brought my computer, but I'm using my aunt's right now. My parents picked me up this morning, then we went to my grandmother's appartment on Long Island (She's moving out at the end of the week...finaly into a home.) then we went to my great aunt Margie's house and we're staying here over night to go to our family picknick...I still have tones of work to do. My phone card ran out last night...I got to talk to Jess first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I have to get a new one on Monday. So Laurel-to answer your question: I'm in NY over night. Livie is in Washington with a lot of other Smithies going to the Anti-War Protest. I really need to talk to you guys. I really want you to see my campus and to see all of yours. This coming break might be a good time for it.

G'night,

Leah

IT'S MOUNTAIN DAY!!!!!!

I only have one class today anyway....but I woke up at 7:15 (?) because my HP (House Prez) Nkechi(In-Kay-Chee) was running around yelling...then other people got up and we could hear the bells of the college chaple ringing for a half an hour...faintly...so we get pick- nick (I can't spell that, especially after taking French) lunches and can spend the day however we want!!!!

Last night when I left the livingroom early at 11:00 the home work party was continuing. I woke up at 2:00 this morning and people were still up down there, talking loudly ....the living room is right under my room...so I have the chimney in my room...

I didn't check my mail yesterday and so when I went (in my pajamas, after breakfast-we went early so we could see one of the other houses to their MT Day tradition of dressing up disco-ish and singing along and dancing to thier music during breakfast: making fools of themselves...or trying to...) I was suprised!!!!!---My new bathrobe, a present from my parents for my birthday, came!!!!It's terry and cozy and a light blue green in color.

I learned at breakfast that part of the welcome letter sent to first-years at that house is that they should bring disco wear....and another house writes that everyone should bring a respectable bra that they would not mind being seen in and many a first year has been horrified. (It's for convocation.)

I'm happy because I finnally saw a scale and I weigh what I usually do, I'd had no clue, though actually, I don' t know exactly what I weighed before I came here.

Thinking about what I'd usually do on a snow day, or free day...makes me miss everyone.

You know what I really feel like doing right now?
I want to hang out at Laurel's house...I used to get so much work done there...at least it was a very painless environment for me to work in.
-And when we were all over and working on various projects...

Which reminds me that I thought I had a present for Laurel, but at some point closer to her birthday I'll have to look back over things and figure things out!!!

Just worked out some feelings in one of my journals, but still have French essay corrections (Joy, what's the point?), ballet journal ect. to do ....one can never write too much...

Oh yeah-News Flash...I have now decided to become a writer...I'd figured for a while that
I'd probably do it on the side, but now I'm thinking that I should just officially want to be one without any other career....and so now marrying a rich guy is a high priority with me...

I AM JOKING, BY THE WAY.....

I want to be a writer, but I don't want to marry a rich person...not that I'm intentionally try not to...I won't be looking for one, though....ayway, I'm rambling, most people probably get what I mean...

I should use spel chek in this pregram...yes that wwas intentional...

But then it wouldn't be as interesting.

I'm feeling kind of out of it and alone because most of the first years in my house do their own things and the two I like the most aren't near to my room and I rarely see them. The others who are in a crowd in the house are my roommate and two others, but I feel like increasingly they are appart from me in what they're doing or care about...and my friends eat all meals together, but I only have time because of locations, to eat lunch with them usually, and I'm out of the loop usually...so I' sad...there are other girls that i like too, but college is so different from our tiny high school...you don't just have one group or friends here, you know many people...though you still several weeks into the semester don't know everyone's names and still ask all the time....I actually couldn't wait for chorus yesterday because I figured I was safe from doing anything which would make me sad!!!!!

Anyway...I have managed to waste sooo much time now and I need to do my home work...Oh, my god!!!!! I can toucj tyoe noe (Touch type now....I guess I almost can...that was actually exaggerated and ntentionally bad.....

Yeah, but anyway.....I'm quite excited!!!!!!!

Yeah, and have a nice day!!!!

-Leah

I got a C!!!!!

I feel lucky to be able to say that that is the worst thing to happen to me recently...

(It was on a French Essay-which she gave back to use after taking half the class to tell us all the mistackes we all made, then after we got them back (very encouraging) we took our quiz/test, whatever, on the chapter....sigh)

I was about to cry today because several little things happened which are too small to mention, but all together made me feel sad....though they really are insignificant...

Ballet was good today...I borrowed Evan's shoes which are a size 9 and so I had to tighten them a lot because they are too big and look silly, but work...I need to take the bus into Amherst and but my own shoes...I was at one of the center barre's today and the teacher stood in the center so I could see better and I did a better job today than usual!!!!

Went into town with Massiell and Lauren after dinner: got another floor pillow for my room!!!!

Livie and I are going to make a reading corner in our room!!!!

I also went to Herall's, the very popular ice cream place which I've been to several times...and got a chococate milk shake...they were out of coconut ice cream...

coconut ice cream is the reason why I love them...they are the only place I've had Italy-worthy coconut ice cream!!!!!

Cheer up, everyone...two more days till the weekend!!!!

The rumor here is that tomorrow will be Mountian Day. (Smith tradition: opposite of a snow day- when the weather is so good that classes are cancelled for the day and we go out to enjoy fall by climbing mountains, or apple picking etc.)

Some of my friends stayed up late last night hoping it would be today...we only know that it is mountain day when the bells toll in the morning...whixh is when we will all go back to sleep.

Some of us will use the holiday for school work...I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet.

Sweet dreams,

Leah

Changes to Chorus Schedual

I'm lazy & have home work so I'm not rewritting the schedual corrections:

"HI dorks,

some corrections to the schedule:

March 10 is the dress rehearsal (friday) and March 11 is the concert (saturday) French music

ALSO:

i forgot to include our singing the Family weekend service............October 16 (day after Montage) 9:45am call...10:30 service. includes some free donughts....etc :)

PLUS:

We have been invited to sing in a benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina. The concert is Friday evening, Sept. 30 at 8:00pm in JMG. Please let me know if you cannot make it.....but let me say this is an excellent cause (my best friend is a choral director in downtown New Orleans....he STILL can't go home!) I think we should make every effort not just to sing in it, but to get many people to attned and donate $$ as well.

email me if you have an excused absence.

see you tomorrow.....with DOMINIC MEMORIZED

choir love,

deanna"

Iphigenia

Guess what....you'll never guess...though my title kinda gives it away to some people...

...Katie, Laurel et Jess...

We have to give oral reports on books or movies, and I was one of the last to get to decide today, so I figured I wouldn't get anything good, but....

I get to do mine on Iphigenia the amazing film we saw in Latin IV!!!!!
I have to get the tape from Mt Holyoke, but I've already seen it!!!!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got up the nerve to go to CFLAC, our language media center and watched part of a movie which was french homework!!!!

I only had one class today...my favorite one...Rites of Passage...I was five minutes late, but I'm no tletting that bother me...I don't think it matters that much.

I should use italics more...they are a cool thing that I can't do when writting by hand!!!!!!!!!!!

Li vie(Olivia, my roommate, who is from Washington State, is borrowing my violin for her lesson today...it makes me nervous, but I trust her...but...

I'm an only child, OK, I have control issues...

That's enough for now,

Leah

Pauci viri veros amicos habent...

I felt this needed posting...but since I don't have all day I'm not about to go look up how to make the long marks in this program, or transfer it from word...so here is is, sans long marks...

"Pauci viri veros amicos habent, et pauci sunt digni. Amicitia vera est praeclara, et omnia praeclara sunt rara. Multi viri stulti de pecunia semper cogitant, pauci de amicis; sed errant: possumus valere sine multa pecunia, sed sine amicitia non valemus et vita est nihil."
-Cicero

This was my homework and this translation might not be completly correct, though it probably is, because I did it...

"Few men have true friends, and few are worthy. True friendship is remarkable, and all remarkable ones are rare. Many stupid men only think about money, few of friends; but they err: we are able without much money, but without friendship we are not strong and life is nothing."

So that's my happy& powerful thought for the day... thought I had nothing to say, but after doing some homework I found something!!!!

That quote reminds me of my many wonderful friends.

Can you understand that? Probably not unless you really know french and can see what I'm trying to get at...at least the end probably got foggy, but I didn't want to stop.

My appologies to those who take Spanish or other inferior languages....just kidding, you know me...I can't stand to hurt anyone...can I hear Katie snort in disagreement?

Not that Katie snorts...it's just a saying....

anyway, before I get myself in (greater) trouble...

No Title

I'm not depressed, or lazy, or very homesick (only a wee bit...so little I usually don't know that I am, untill I realize something here is not the way I'd like it to be.) I just happen to not even have gone down the street for my mail....Got a card from Ashley!!!!!....anyway, I realized that the fartest I'd gone from home yesterday was to meals at Cutter-Z. I stayed in my house the whole day....and there was a party and my house friends went to several things....in cluding the activities fair...........

anyway...I have home work to do, and am not looking forward to a very busy Monday.

I guess I should be happy that three of my five classes only meet twicw a week, chorus three times, and my two language classes...three times.

The weekend should be my going-someplace-time, but I'm across campus during the week, and it's only on weekends when I can stay at home.

Anyway...I hope everyone is happy is scholarsland, or where ever you are. Pass the word around about the blogs and get a bigger network of them up!!!!They'er very fun and helpful....

For me, who never had instant messanger, or talked over the internet except for regular e-mail, this is especially fun....

anyway...

Important Information...

I haven't shared this Smith Advise/Saying with you yet so here goes:

House Booty is Bad Booty...i.e....it's not good to date someone in your house because when you break up things get too nasty and complicated.

Good, sound advise.

I don't plan on needing to follow it, unless we go co-ed which is highly unlikely...the students whould never permit it...and if we did I'd eat my hat.

We had Recycled Percussion preform for us tonight...they were amazing drummers, but not as entertaining as Stomp or The Blue Man Group....yet they were free, paid for my the school!!!!

Yeah for free stuff.

We can take as much food as we want out of the dinning halls!!!---they wil even give you ingredients for you're baking somwtimes...apples for pie etc.

After the preformance my friends came over and I was back in Latin class, but without you guys and Miss Huntoon...we sat around a round table in my dinningroom and ate the rest of my cake and drank tea and laughed!!! They sang "Happy Birthday" to me!!! This was the five of us, and people would come home, hear us, poke thier heads in and smile because it looked like we were having a good time!!!!

Katlyn gave me a really beautiful boquet of flowers today for my birthday....a pink rose, pink and orange and purple flowers...!!!!

Livie and I stayed shopping in town longer than we'd thought we would and so we went out to eat...at a pizza place....we had calzons...

Livie gave me a little pouperi and I've gotten several cards too for my birthday.

My internet will be down tommorow, so they tell us, so you won't be hearing from me...otherwise I might make an extra effort to talk to Myles so he isn't lonely....but he'll just have to deal...

Anyway...it's late...

Livie's been in bed for a while, though I still hear tons of movement in the world upstairs.

G'night.

Busy little bees?

I asume everyone is busy because I've been checking the blogs and comments and things don't seem to be too active.

There's a cute boy in my new class.

One of the many books for my new class is...Handbook To Life In Ancient Rome!!!!!!!! It's like candy in my eyes!!!!!

I'm very happy, though tiered...went to bed at two one night and eleven the next, waking up at six to do an essay, which couldn't print and I had to use e-mail and school computers and ....yeah...

I had four classes plus chorus yesterday, but today I had one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to go....home work and make up home work to be done....I finnally am able to do my French on-Blackboard audio home work....what do other schools call thier on-line classes posting site?

We have a first years only game night tonight in the living room !!!!
anyway, G'night.

Techniqually...

It's really the 14th because it's past mid-night...

Tuesday, September 13, 2005

It's my birthday!!!!!

I am now 19!!!!! Isn't that crazy. It felt good to be 18, after all, you are only 18 once, and now I'm just plain old. Many of my student advisers in the grade ahead of me are younger than me...
I need Laurel to tell me to get to work...I felt I had to write, it is my birthday, after all, though you'd never know it except that Lauren and I baked my cake, then when I came back from my chorus sectional I fed it to Amber and Livie, then later I brought it up to Evan's room and she got out her mugs and soup spoons and she and her roommate Leah, and Nikechi (In-Kay-Chee) sang happy birthday twice and other poeople drifted in and we hung out for a while wasting time and laughing....got to go...

My Birthday and other unrelated matters!

I forgot that yesterday was something special. 9/11

Anyway-

Decided to keep French but go into boringly a repeat of what I know Latin...the teacher is a young, thin gay guy with good fashion sense and who is very nice...he could be Greek. I like him a lot. The other Latin teacher was also very nice, but the translation wasn't. I know that I'd be very confused in the lower class if I hadn't had any high school Latin. Couldn't understand most of the other French teacher's rapid fire French, but others could...they are reading Asterix!!!! So, am stuck in class where I can understand the French spoken by the teacher, but find the exercises way too easy, even after the summer.

We got two pretty posters today.....and assignment books...Livie went for a long walk through Main Street.

Ballet-So much fun....the teacher understands that we need to have fun, even though we aren't 8 years old anymore...she suggests buying the whole leatard/ tights/pink shoes!!!

We got to do a small floor reutine, and improvise and twirl!!!!!!

It was fun...

Don't know about voice...they havn't contacted me yet.

Must contact my adviser to change scedual.

Only have one class on tuesdays and thursdays, and three on mon/wed and two on fridays!!!!!

(I need more credits somehow.)

My friend Sarah, who also happens to be in my class tommorow, will meet me for lunch, bake the cake, then everyone will eat at my closest dinning hall and come over after dinner for cake.

I have chorus sectional at 8:00 pm.

I missed most of the chorus rehersal today because I was in town and forgot...
I wasn't in trouble , though...

Kisses- Leah
(should that be my new sign off, or should it be...)

Je t'aime....Leah.

Cake!!

My mommy brought me the already measured ingredients for a Birthday Cake!!! I just have to combine, mix and bake!!!!!

I now have a light in my closet.

Complained in my writting notebook from a to z about my problems...

then went to Nikichi's (I don't know the spelling but it's pronounced: "In-kay-chee") room for some honey dew which she said would help my stress...she meant a pad of paper that says "Honey Do List" on it...the paper is melon shaped...discussed my delemas with several of my upperclasswomen including Evan, one of my HONS...

Oh yeah, my HONS were at the door of the party and when me and some other first years from my house were asked if we were going to be drinking they put their hands on thier hips and said they hoped not!!!!!

At some point we are going to get big sisters who will secretly give us gifts and at the end of the year we will find out who they are!!!! I hang out with the older girls as much as with my classmates so I asume there will be no problem finding me a big sister....and that's how confident I am with my popularity...

ANYWAY....

Livie's banging, trying to get nails into the ceiling or wall to hang here light from...

I'm countering her noise by listening to classical music which is soothing....

Later.

Baby-making dancing...

Yeah, so....went to party at Campus Center...

many guys there i.e:1 man for every 10 girls (maybe) or much worse....
you could smell the alcohol (there were sepperate wrist bands for over 21-ers and for under 21-ers) because there was a cash bar.

Loud music like i'd never heard before: punk, heavy metal....I don't know, just throwing out names.....no clue...something not pretty, sortof fun for two minutes or just for listening to it, but it all sounds the same if you're damcing to it. Not fun in hot room with mass of people dirty dancing: women dirty dancing together more than women with men ...but you can't tell whose streight or not ect....I guess it doesn't matter: obviously if I were picky I wouldn't have come to this college.

So reminded me of Dirty Dancing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roommate and others still at party. I came back with another group.

put laundry in dryer.

met friends coming out as we went in-could have gone with them....

glad to have had tast of party scene in a "tamer" environment than one usually finds.

I feel like a loser for saying that I don't like parties....
actually that's not true...if I like the people and music and stuff I do like them...

my hands smelllike dryer sheets!!!!!!

I can't decide wether to take French 120 or 220...

The weekend is wierd....I have some class and some nothing time during the week, so the week and week end are more blended together...plus I'm less axious for it to not end becase , so far, week days are not that horrible...yet i came to that conclusion before I joined chorus.

Chorus:

We have a : conductor, occompaniest, prez, vice prez, secretary, tresurer, librariens, wardrom mistresses, web mistresses.....and dues and several concerts, and we buy t-shirts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's intense!!!!!!!!

I'm tiered ...I wanted to go to sleep several hours ago, then I went to a party and danced, and I still haven't done any homework....

G'night.

Three days till.........

There are now three days untill my 19th birthday.

I only have one more year to be a teenager!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tear

Celebrate

I'm really leaving now.....G'night.

I really should be working right now!

Hi, there's a party at the Campus Center tonight. Felds, who works there was out chalking about it and I stopped to say hi to her on my way home.

Had my five hour chorus rehersal tonight. Sage Hall is across campus from me but I now have rehursal there three nights a week. I heared that there are 60 members of the choir and 60 people didn't make it in. The music is hard. We learned it by sight sining, not by hearing it first. But we sounded really, really good already!!!!!!!!

Livie and I finnally did our laundry tonight!!!!!!!!!!

Will I get lessons? We'll see on monday.

We don't have house tea until the 23rd, or whatever that friday is....sad, very sad....

I've been giving my parents orders of ehat to bring this weekend when they visit for my birthday: among other things I'm getting my tea pot and tea and two mugs!!!!!!!!11

My friends are planning to bake cookies, but I'd wanted to bake a B. Day cake.....

But my scedual is so full already.....Oh-

Usually the college gives out agendas, but they didn't, so the bookstore, places in town, everything....has sold out of them for the year....mom is bringing me one, hopefully....lots to do-

Later..........

Sigh

I can't get my writting in my last message to get smaller....I've tried several times.

I feel so free, and much better- I changed my previous postes to be about Smith, with a name.

Did you know that men are like pieces of meat around here and we are all very famished lionesses?

It's so bad that some girls were discussing how they like this forty year old professor...does this sound like "Mona Lisa Smile"? I'd heared that old Wellsely girls disagreed with parts of the movie....but I imagine it to be pretty accurite.

Most people here really love it.

It takes some getting used to ...all the girls walking around holding hands...but not that much getting used to.

I have to wash and return the tea cups and saucers Livie and I borrowed from the kitchen this morning for tea as we studied after breakfast.

I feel hermitish: I didn't go to the comedien, the coffee hour at the museum, town with my friends(Well I wanted to but they left without me) or the upperclasswomen next door to watch a movie....Instead I'm in my room writing in my blog .

I guess one could argue that I am now more connected because I'm doing this to connect with you guys....

gagh....I need posters!!!!!!!!!!!!

My walls are white with blue spots where someone elso put stuff and took the paint off with whatever it was. I've met several former inhabitents of my room!!!!!!!!!

We have the smallest double in the house...and It's got a chimney, radiator amd doors in the way.....we are complimented on our arrangement which was hard to figure out.

But---we have a roof/porch outside our large window and our smaller window doesn't have a screan and there is a stepstool on the ledge so.....we have our owm private porch!!!!!!!!1

We also have two walk- in closets which are bigger than my closet at home where our dressers are.

We also have this funny cabinet with a door built into the wall where the chimmney, or whatever, is.............

yippeee!!!!!!!!!!

The other day I had a thought that I had not been able to have ever before:

"Wow, I'm the only white person in this room!"

Our house is the best on campus and very diverse, with major house pride, the best president ever, awsume HONS and the Prez herself has said that we're wonderful!!!!!!!!!

Livie's going to bed, and I'm tiered too.....

G'night.

Ha

Don't know why I called it that...first word I thought of...long nails are a pain on this keyboard....what evil monster would come out to eat me if I didn't capitalize anything? because that too is a pain...but i suppose i'm too much the perfectionist not to capitalize....but i'm now experimenting.

today i had my first class at 11:00 and my last one (and second one) at 1:10. I was done with class by 2:30!!!!!!!!!

before i forget: imortNT THINGS FOR ME TO COVER....THANK'S JESS'S BLOG FOR IDEAS....WHY IS EVERYTHING UPPERCASE? WHERE'S MY CAPS LOCK BUTTTON??????

ah, allbetter...I mean...all better......It's Friday...........

sometimes we see guys and sometimes we see what we think are guys but really are girls...what i wouldn't give to see a guy....

yesterday night one of our HONS (head of new students) Maglio, took a bunch of us to Target and Livie (my room mate) and i got curtians and a rug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today we (livie and i) went to breakfast in our pajamas (the closest dinninghall is at the end of our driveway/hill.

its so lovely when you dont have to worry about unnecessary characters when you are writting

But it makes me feel bad. I so totally can hear you guys laughing at me for that last line.

YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEee

keep reading to find out why i said that ....by the way, my school has corrupted me and last night we were discussing the cutest things guys had done for us and why men were stupid and how you should never think overly much about things concerning them....

anyway.........
I auditioned for the college chorus, one of two huge groups....and I checked today and I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1(Well, i'd hoped i'd be because there are about 70 singers (Soprano I &II and Alto I & II ) there are 14 other soprano I's....................

I also auditioned for voice lessons and I'll find out on Monday if I got them...probably not...................................but our practice rooms have such awsume acustics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm also going to do an Irish music group, but i'm not good enough for band so i didnt even try to get in. One of the girls in my dorm is in it and my room mate used her violin to audition for lessons.............

some juniors and seniors just stopped by to make sure i knew them....they admired how we'd set up our small room.

There's an early music group on campus and i thought about joining but you have to audition and already corus will take up about two nights (at least) a week.

i tested into a higher latin (the literature one, not the elementary one because I could red the paragraph and answer the questions on the placement test, but couldn't answer the easy nquestionsa bout grammer and stuff. I have a homework date with two girls because we're supposed to work together to do our home work...luckily there is a special, beautyful classic's study room in our vast main library...

But I'm in a lower French than I thought I could be in . many of my classmetes have only had two or three years of french. I really could be fine in this class but i also feel like i mi0ght be able to hancle more...we'll see...(we'll is a word which needs a ' otherwise it looks like well.

I'm listening to the Harry Potter soundtrack right now.

I have yet to have to wait for a shower, through there are 10 girls to a shower!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to do my first laundry.

My first class on monday is Ballet!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Drawing I yesterday but there are just as many of us on the waiting list as are in the class even though there are 4 or 5 sections.I won't get into the class.

I should get a curtian for the fromt of my closet so that people in the hall can't see into it (our door is usually left open unless we aren't in the dorm or we are sleeping....but usually i leave my room open and go to another part of the dorm to hang out in ....

I love where I am....

There is this part of campus on my way to the music buildings which is at the bottom of a hill, and grassy, and behind these beautiful buildings, and there is a round fountain pool whith a statue of a woman....I love it there soooooo much.....today my friends and i ate lunch on the grass like most of the school-we picked up our lunch and left the dinnning room.

There was a fair with katie's favorite blow up game....the wap-the-other-person-as-hard-as-you-can-
while-balancing game....

and free sno-cones and popcorn and cotton candy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*thanks girls, but i know your adresses for blogs, i just couldn't get them to work .....i worked on the reading of blogs i'd missed today...note to self: must check e-mail
I'm meeting people at 5:45 so I have to go....but it is always a delemma:eat with my friends or with my friends from my dorm?

Other note to self: do home work
French teacher from France, Latin teacher nice but strict, i love my First year seminar teacher.....I'll be late, more later...

So long.............

Une petite question....

How do I get to your blogs? Sorry, I can't get to them. If they are blocked from the outside please e-mail me the addresses or whaat ever. Also e-mail Katie's cell and room phones...etc.

anyway....I'm tiered....

G'night.

Nudity

So....
I experienced my first Convocation.

What can I say to do Convocation at Smith justice? Lots of screaming...I have never heared so much prolonged noise of that level before.

It is well known that men and boys from town line the streets to see the smithies in thier underwear or less.....that's a bit overstating it....I didn't see that many people......maybe about three.(though people stared from thier cars.

The college gowns of the proffessers are so funny. The speakers all commented on how they were over dressed!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of bras and such!!!!!! I didn't catch sight of any full streakers though three girls in my house went for a clothes less run once we got home.

I'm listening to Pachabel's Canon right now and it's making me happy!!!!!!

My first class tommorrow is at nine, then I have my wait listen one at one or so.

My Birthday is in six days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I wish I could have had a commplete count starting at Sept. First....that reminds me of Hogwarts.....the speakers mentioned Hogwarts tonight.

My campus is so beautyful, I've really been enjoying it!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm blogging again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank God....my computer is working again!!!!!!!!!!!
So, you know I went on a trip (which was a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!) and when I got back I had a couple of days before my parents were going to bring my computer....and when they did I couldn't log on....so I've been bored and trapped and it hasn't been fun
and I don't need you to scold me, Laurel.

Anyway, my roommate is nice, the other students are nice, and the classes I'm registered for are good...I only tested into French 120, but I'm out of Elementary Latin and into Latin
prose and poetry. My First Year Semminar is the one i wanted "Rites of Passage" it's in my department : Classics. I'm also taking Ballet I and yesterday I auditioned for the Chorus and probably will get in, I'm doing a Fiddle Music group too, and today I auditioned for Voice lessons....they had an accompaniest!...and I handed one copy of the music to him, and kept one for myself.... I'm Waitlisted for Drawing I butI'm pushing myself into it.

I needed 9 books for one class!!!!!!! But I got mostly used books and I spent about $255 on books.

I have several friends....my closest ones are: Megan, Katlyn, Katy, Sarah (who auditioned for
orchestra and is now one of the two trumpets (and our orchestra has played and Carnegie Hall!!!)), and Lauren.

My roommate is really nice and we need to buy a rug and curtians.

Convocation is tonight and we are preparing to celebrate in costume and in the nude (no, not me...but I'm going pant-less (in a skirt and bikini top and our house will be wearing lays...we have a tropical theme. ))

I feel like I'v known the girls all my life, I didn't see them for a day and it felt like a year. The five of us had a hair dying, bonding experience which didn't work, plus you can't dye your hair in the sinks (we didn't know that then.) I did not dye my hair.

I'm sortof getting used to typing on my lap top.

I should go because I want to walk to diner with people and I think they might leave without me
I wonder if this red will be visible with my background?
